Bowtie Methodology Training | Safety Risk Consultancy |BowTie XP Software

If we accept that the current situation is very far removed from normal, we must adapt fast within this new (hopefully temporary) normal in order to survive.  For example, it is common for an individual pilot to be away from flying for a period of time but there is a system in place to support that person as they return to full flying duties.  What happens when that entire system is down?  How do we ramp back up safely whilst not spreading the virus - can we collaborate to create "clean" routes as we take tentative steps towards a recovery?

We propose to use Bowties as the basis for developing a "safety case" that will give assurance to the
Accountable Manager/ Regulator/Board/ Workers/insurers, that the aircraft is safe to operate and being operated safely, and to governments that operators are not facilitating the spread of COVID-19.

The project is under development and we invite you to join us; please email Hello@HarbottleHughes.com to learn more.

At Harbottle Hughes we specialise in helping organisations explore ways to bring risk evaluation into all aspects of the business and build resilience into the management culture of the organisation.  Many traditional risk management and identification processes are built on the premise of a stable and predictable operating environment, where the typical focus for risk mapping and planning is on compliance, policy and process.  Bowtie Risk Management helps high reliability industries remain agile and better equips them to face the challenge of ever evolving threats.

The nature and the complexity of incidents means we cannot predict what’s coming next but we can know the processes that may lead to an incident.  By strengthening the barriers within a process, we reduce the likelihood and/or severity of a potential negative outcome.  Furthermore, good barrier management promotes a timely and efficient allocation of resources.

"
Two days training in BowTie Methodology was conducted in ICAO Regional Office, Bangkok in November 2017 by Ms. Emily Harbottle, who is also an Instructor for ICAO Safety Management for Practioners Course. The training was attended by 6 Officers from the Regional Office. The training was very useful, and enriched the knowledge and skills for hazard analysis and safety risk assessment".

"Emily was well prepared, organized, had extensive knowledge of subject area and was very accommodating in assisting with queries outside training times. The course was well developed and brilliantly delivered. She will be very impactful anywhere she teaches"
